2007年に刊行された「Taste of Nepal」ですが、ネパール料理についてのこれ以上詳しい成書は、なかなか他には見つけることが出来ません。著者の JYOTI PATHAK さんは巻頭でこの本を著すに至った経緯を記しておられます。
This book is for anyone curious about Nepali cuisine, whether the interest stems simply from a desire to cook or to learn about a different culture. I also hope that this book will assist first generation Nepalese living abroad, who wish to learn to cook Nepali food. Finally, this book may also serve as a resource for people who have visited Nepal: returned Peace Corps volunteers and tourists who want recipes for the food they enjoyed in Nepal. If I am able to preserve Nepali culture and traditions even on a small scale, this will be a great accomplishment!
との文章も綴られ、レシピ本としてだけではなく、ネパールの文化と伝統も伝える本となっています。最近は更新が止まっていますが、同名のブログも興味深い内容が満載です。巻末の Glossary の Nepali-English は ローマ字綴りのネパール語と英語の辞書の様なもので、デーヴァナーガリー文字が苦手な私の様な者にとって重宝しています。
